Sudan Accuses Foreign Countries of Fueling Ongoing Conflict
Hassan Daoud Kabroun said the alleged support included logistical assistance, financial resources, mercenary fighters and drone supplies, according to reports. He did not identify the countries he accused of involvement.
“What is happening is not a civil war or a struggle for power, but a comprehensive war aimed at destroying Sudan, plundering its resources and changing its demographic composition,” Kabroun said.
Fighting between the Sudanese armed forces and the RSF began in April 2023 after disagreements over plans to integrate the two forces into a unified military structure developed into an armed confrontation.
Since the conflict erupted, tens of thousands of people have been killed, while approximately 13 million have been forced to flee their homes. The fighting has also aggravated food shortages, with famine conditions and an increasingly severe humanitarian emergency affecting the country.
In a separate statement, Kabroun emphasized Sudan’s strategic importance to regional and African security, arguing that the country should remain part of broader security cooperation efforts.
He also revealed that Sudan was pursuing membership in a maritime coalition designed to provide collective security and protection across the Red Sea.
