Fatalities Reported in Russia, Ukraine After Drone Strikes
In Russia's Voronezh region, Governor Aleksandr Gusev described the assault as among the most devastating since the conflict began, writing on Telegram that the administrative hub endured "one of the most severe drone attacks" of the war.
"Unfortunately, a young woman died in intensive care last night after being injured when drone debris fell on a private home," Gusev said.
The governor confirmed one woman remains hospitalized with abdominal trauma, while two additional victims are receiving outpatient care for lacerations.
Damage assessments reveal strikes affected over 10 apartment complexes—including one non-residential structure—an equivalent number of private residences, a high school, and multiple administrative facilities, according to Gusev. Emergency crews continue clearing debris across affected zones.
The Russian Defense Ministry asserted its air defense systems intercepted 33 Ukrainian drones during the nighttime operation, with 17 destroyed over Voronezh territory alone.
Ukraine has not addressed the Russian claims, though its Air Force announced via Telegram it neutralized 125 of 154 drones Russia deployed against the country overnight.
In Ukraine's northwestern Zhytomyr region, Governor Vitalii Bunechko reported overnight attacks on critical infrastructure sent two workers to hospitals with moderate injuries.
Separately, Ukraine's State Emergency Service confirmed four casualties from strikes on Movchany village, located south of Kharkiv—the nation's second-largest city positioned approximately 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the Russian border.
"There was destruction and damage to the residential buildings, as well as a fire on an area of 150 sq. meters (1,614 square feet)," it added.
