Iranian Parliament Speaker Threatens Israel, US

(MENAFN) Iran’s parliamentary speaker issued a warning on Sunday, declaring that Israel, American military forces, and maritime hubs would be deemed “legitimate targets” should Washington initiate a military strike on Tehran.

Speaking directly to U.S. President Donald Trump from the legislative podium, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated: “Within the framework of legitimate defense, we do not limit ourselves to responding only after an action. In the event of a US military attack, both the occupied territories (Israel) and US military and shipping centers will be legitimate targets for us.”

He explained that Iran is currently locked in confrontation with Israel and the United States across four arenas — economic, psychological, military, and terrorist warfare — stressing that these fronts are “unfolding simultaneously.”

“The enemies planned to recruit local terrorists during the 12-day war (of June 2025), but they failed. Now, they have recruited local terrorists. We are fighting terrorists,” he said, referencing ongoing waves of domestic protests.

Inside the parliamentary hall, legislators shouted anti-U.S. slogans.

Meanwhile, American defense officials indicated that more time would be required to ready U.S. forces before any possible strike on Iran, even as Trump weighs multiple response scenarios, according to U.S. media reports.

“All options are on the table for President Trump but no decision has been made,” an unnamed U.S. official told a media outlet, emphasizing that deliberations remain fluid and largely non-kinetic at this stage.
