Syrian forces dismantle explosives planted by YPG/SDF in Aleppo
According to the statement, specialized units conducting sweeps in the area discovered and neutralized multiple threats, including a vehicle loaded with mortar shells and numerous suicide drones hidden inside civilian homes. Improvised explosive devices were also found inside residences and along nearby streets.
During field operations, teams detected a booby-trapped rocket, which was safely handled using approved technical procedures. The rocket was later detonated under direct supervision, with no casualties or property damage reported. Other explosives and drones were transferred to secure storage facilities.
Authorities further revealed that internal security forces uncovered “large warehouses containing significant quantities of assorted weapons belonging to the SDF” during their operations in Sheikh Maqsoud. The caches reportedly included landmines, improvised devices, rockets, shells, grenades, and extensive ammunition supplies, which officials described as “a direct threat to public security and civilian safety.”
The ministry also accused the SDF of shelling residential areas, civilian infrastructure, and Syrian Army positions in Aleppo since Tuesday. Official figures state that these attacks have killed 24 people, injured nearly 130, and displaced approximately 165,000 residents from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.
