Trump Is not in Full Agreement with Israel on West Bank

(MENAFN) On Monday, US President Donald Trump stated that Washington and Tel Aviv are not in complete agreement regarding the West Bank, though he expressed confidence that a resolution would eventually be reached.

“We have had a discussion, big discussion, for a long time on the West Bank, and I wouldn't say we agree on the West Bank 100%, but we’ll come to a conclusion,” Trump remarked when asked about Israeli settler violence in the territory and whether he had conveyed a message to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“It'll be announced at an appropriate time, but he will do the right thing,” Trump added, referring to Netanyahu, who stood beside him during a joint press conference at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

According to Palestinian data, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 1,103 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, injured nearly 11,000, and detained around 21,000 since October 2023.

In July, the International Court of Justice issued a landmark opinion declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory unlawful and calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

'Very short period of time' for Hamas’ disarmament

Trump and Netanyahu also discussed advancing the Gaza ceasefire plan, which includes a complete Israeli withdrawal and the disarmament of Hamas. Trump noted that the Palestinian group would be given a “very short period of time” to disarm under the agreement.
