Slovak Premier Refuses EU Support for Ukraine

(MENAFN) Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has declared that Slovakia will not participate in any European Union initiatives designed to fund military assistance for Ukraine.

This reinforces his government's position of non-support for Kyiv’s defense efforts amid the ongoing conflict.

During a press briefing on Sunday, Fico emphasized his stance, stating that he "refuses to allow Slovakia to participate in any financial programs aimed at helping Ukraine manage the war and military spending," as reported by a local media outlet.

The prime minister also criticized the EU's proposed financial plan, which aims to allocate approximately €140 billion (more than $162 billion) over the next several years to aid Ukraine. Fico described this initiative as "the EU’s biggest mistake."

Additionally, Fico reiterated his opposition to the sanctions imposed on Russia, arguing that these measures are more detrimental to European economies than they are to Moscow.
