Venezuela Decries U.S. Combat Aircraft Incursion as "Provocation"

(MENAFN) Venezuela’s defense and foreign ministries condemned the unlawful entry of U.S. combat aircraft into its airspace on Thursday, labeling the move as a direct threat to the country's sovereignty.

Foreign Minister Yvan Gil confirmed that the planes were spotted on October 2, 2025, approximately 75 kilometers off the Venezuelan coast. In a statement posted on social media, he decried the incursion as a “provocation,” emphasizing that it violated both international law and the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

“The maneuver put at risk the safety of aviation in the Caribbean Sea,” Gil stated, noting that multiple similar incursions had been detected.

Earlier, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez also criticized the U.S. military presence, describing it as part of an ongoing “military harassment” and “military threat” against Venezuela. He stressed that the Venezuelan people were simply seeking peace, prosperity, and security.

In an escalating warning to Washington, Padrino Lopez urged the U.S. to avoid any military action against Venezuela, asserting, “Don’t make that mistake.”
