US Representative says if she dies, it wouldn’t be self-inflicted

(MENAFN) US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has alleged that “powerful people” are attempting to silence her as she pushes for the release of all remaining files linked to Jeffrey Epstein. She also stated that she is “not suicidal” and warned that any harm that comes to her would not be self inflicted.

Greene, a Republican from Georgia, is backing a House resolution introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie to compel the Justice Department to disclose all unreleased Epstein records. Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, allegedly died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Taking to X on Saturday, Greene told her followers to “find out” what really happened if she were ever found dead. “I am not suicidal and one of the happiest, healthiest people you will meet,” she wrote, dismissing any notion she might harm herself after backing the petition. The measure requires 218 signatures to bypass committee leadership and force a vote on the House floor — a step Greene called crucial to exposing what she described as the “Epstein rape and pedophile network.”

“If something happens to me, I ask you to find out which foreign government or powerful people would go to such lengths to keep this information from coming out,” she added. “The People understand what I’m saying.”

Media reports have suggested the White House is privately urging lawmakers to abandon the petition. Greene, however, has vowed to continue. “I stand with girls and women who are sexually abused and raped. Period. Every time. At all times,” she wrote. “This isn’t about a pissing contest between political parties or rivals. The Epstein rape and pedophile network must be exposed – and my name will remain on the discharge petition.”

Earlier this month, the House Oversight Committee released 33,295 pages of Justice Department records related to Epstein, including redacted court filings, surveillance footage and other evidence. On Friday, House Democrats published an additional batch — calendars, flight logs and financial ledgers naming Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and Steve Bannon — prompting Republicans to accuse them of “cherry picking” to highlight conservatives while withholding material that could implicate Democrats.
