Search Continues for Missing in Nepal, China Border Area
Up to this point, nine fatalities have been confirmed, while a sudden flash flood has inflicted significant destruction on the infrastructure surrounding the border, reported by Nepalese news outlets.
The Rasuwa District Administration Office stated that the flash flood severely damaged vital infrastructure, completely washing away an essential cross-border connection linking Nepal and China.
The stretch of road between Syafrubesi and Rasuwagadhi has become unusable, with the Rasuwa Customs Office, its dry port facility in Timure, an electric vehicle charging station, and the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project dam all suffering varying degrees of damage.
Approximately 35 electric vehicles, 23 container trucks, and six Chinese trucks were also swept away by the floodwaters.
Officials confirmed that 55 individuals were rescued from the affected zones, including 50 Nepali citizens, one Chinese national, and four Indian nationals.
Meanwhile, Chinese authorities issued warnings to Nepal regarding the possibility of additional flooding, as rainfall persisted in Tibet’s Nyalam region.
