Putin Orders Dismissal of Russia’s Transport Minister

(MENAFN) On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin formally signed a decree that removes Roman Starovoyt from his position as Transport Minister. This high-level decision was officially announced through a statement published on the Kremlin’s website, which confirmed that the dismissal takes effect immediately on the day the decree was signed.

Despite the swift action, no reasons or explanations have been provided by the government or Kremlin officials to clarify the circumstances or motives behind Starovoyt’s sudden removal from the ministerial post. The lack of detail has sparked speculation but remains officially unaddressed.

Roman Starovoyt was appointed as Transport Minister in May 2024, marking a significant step up from his previous role as governor of Russia’s Kursk border region. He had served as the region’s governor since September 2019, following a period as acting governor beginning in October 2018. Starovoyt’s tenure in both regional and ministerial positions was noted for its focus on infrastructure and regional development prior to this abrupt dismissal.
