Trump Orders Israel to Refrain from Bombing Iran

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a direct warning to Israel, urging the country to refrain from bombing Iran, emphasizing that such an action would constitute a "major violation" of the ceasefire agreement.

Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated: "ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO, IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!"

Earlier in the day, Israeli officials reported detecting missile launches originating from Iran, shortly after Israel confirmed it had accepted a ceasefire proposed by Trump.

Contradicting these claims, an Iranian news agency denied any missile launches targeting Israel following the ceasefire declaration.

In response to the alleged Iranian missile activity, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that he had "instructed the military to respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes" on strategic locations "in the heart of Tehran."

The missile alerts prompted air raid sirens in the Haifa region, with Israel’s air defense systems intercepting the incoming threats. The military reported no casualties or damage.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force escalated its operations by launching another round of strikes in western Iran, targeting missile launcher sites, according to military sources.

This surge in hostilities followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement that Israel accepted Trump’s ceasefire proposal and had accomplished its military objectives against Iran.

Trump had earlier stated that the ceasefire would begin around 0400 GMT, with Iran expected to cease its offensive actions first.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi refuted claims of any formal ceasefire agreement between the two nations. He indicated that Iran would consider halting retaliatory measures if Israeli attacks ceased by 4 a.m. Tehran time (0030 GMT).

Araqchi posted on X: "If Israel stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 a.m., Iran has no intention of continuing its response afterwards," while also adding, "the final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later."

The contrasting statements cast doubt over the enforcement and longevity of the ceasefire, leaving uncertainty about whether the deal was officially communicated through diplomatic channels or if either side planned to abide by it.

On Monday evening, Trump declared that Israel and Iran had agreed to a full ceasefire, calling it the conclusion of the "12-Day War."

In a Truth Social post, Trump explained that the ceasefire would initially last for 12 hours during which both parties would maintain a stance of "peace and respect."
