Israel Claims Iran Launched Strikes After Ceasefire Announcement

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Israel reported detecting missiles launched from Iran just after Israeli officials confirmed acceptance of a ceasefire plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. In contrast, Iranian media dismissed claims of new missile attacks after the ceasefire as "false."

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that he had "instructed the military to respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes" targeting locations "in the heart of Tehran."

According to the Israeli military, the missile launch triggered air raid sirens in the Haifa region, but Israel's air defense systems successfully intercepted the projectiles. There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Simultaneously, the Israeli Air Force intensified its campaign by conducting another round of airstrikes in western Iran, aiming specifically at missile launcher sites.

This surge in hostilities followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement that Israel accepted the ceasefire proposed by Trump and had accomplished its strategic objectives against Iran. A statement from Netanyahu’s office emphasized that Israel had "achieved its goal of removing Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile threat."

Iran’s media reported earlier on Tuesday that the ceasefire commenced after multiple waves of Iranian missile attacks on Israel.

Earlier, President Trump revealed that the ceasefire would begin at approximately 0400 GMT, with Iran expected to cease its military activities first.
