Wikileaks Alleges Hollywood Bias in Portraying Iran

(MENAFN) Wikileaks has alleged that Hollywood screenwriters who “say they are Jewish” have been embedding pro-conflict themes involving Iran into mainstream media for over ten years.

This claim comes amidst renewed tensions in the Middle East following recent military actions by Israel and the United States.

Earlier this month, Israel initiated aerial attacks on Iranian targets, asserting that Tehran was nearing the development of a nuclear device.

In a significant escalation, the United States became directly involved by targeting Iranian nuclear sites with airstrikes over the weekend.

In a message posted on X on Sunday, Wikileaks asserted that screenwriters “who say they are Jewish” have been “planting the mental seeds for war with Iran for years.”

The organization pointed to popular shows and films such as Top Gun: Maverick, Homeland, 24, and The Fifth Estate as examples of this narrative trend.

Wikileaks also shared a video segment from a 2013 speech by its founder, Julian Assange, at Oxford Union.

In the footage, Assange criticized the film The Fifth Estate—a dramatized account of Wikileaks—for including a subplot about a fictional Iranian nuclear weapons project.

According to Assange, the film begins with a portrayal of Iranian scientists in Tehran building a nuclear bomb, where a character claims it could become operational within half a year.

He questioned, “How is it that such a lie got into a script about Wikileaks?” while emphasizing that, at that time, sixteen US intelligence agencies had already concluded that Iran did not possess an active nuclear arms program.
