Russia, Oman Hold Talks to Address Israel-Iran Conflict

(MENAFN) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov engaged in a phone conversation with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi on Wednesday to address escalating tensions in the Middle East sparked by Israel’s recent large-scale military action targeting Iran, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

The official statement highlighted that both parties underscored the critical need to halt hostilities immediately and cautioned against the conflict spreading geographically, which could trigger severe repercussions across the region.

Lavrov expressed gratitude to Oman for its role in mediation, particularly in handling sensitive matters related to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

The two ministers concurred on the importance of steering the confrontation toward diplomatic solutions and creating a framework for lasting and inclusive negotiations.
The ministry also pointed out that the call was initiated by Oman.
